Gun Glub 2014/15: We're Back!!!!

Well ladies and gentlemen, Gun Club is back!  We haven't really gone away, but with the amount of interest in the weight room this year it was time for a short update.

Gr. 12 student Dusty Bill is the current attendance leader with over 20 visits so far this season.  He's going to be beast by June, barring an injury.  Don't push it too hard D-Bills.  Remember, safety first.  You can't help an old lady cross the street if you have a massive hernia.  You can't save a cat from a tree, and impress your friends, with a slipped disc.

Christian 'the prodigal son returns' Fehr was back today!  What jubilation filled the gym with his entrance.  He has been feeding on corn husks, so he's not quite in game shape, but we will work on that.

Happy to have a few new gunners this year.  Today we were joined by 'Big' Mac Barlas and Sergio 'the Mexican Missile' Loranzo.  The romantic languages were rounded out when Emmanuel 'Justin Trudeau but better looking' Perrault entered the room uttering French pump-up slogans.

The whole thing was quite inspirational and allowed me the stamina to do an extra set.

The bottom line is that these guys showed up.  Here's to another great year in the Gun Club.  Stay tuned.

RJC Gun Club Fri. Oct. 26, 2012

Well, back at 'er.

Today was the end of term 1 and we have some work to do.  The Driedg and I (Rdubs) hit it hard today.  Summer is officially over and we are heading into winter.  There are no igloos to make for the ladies and children, so we need to toss weights around to melt through the whale-like belly blubber to the muscle that lies like land beneath the snow.

Inspiration incarnate, T-pain showed up for the first time today!  This resulted in many cheers and grunts from the Gun Rack.  Hoping to see Tandy and Joe Hachchachachana back as well.

Winter's coming gentlemen.  Only the strong will survive.  Build your igloo.  Ladies love a man that can provide, or at least they don't stick with ones that can't.  The wolves are howling.

Whatever the weather, show up.

RJC Gun Club Wednesday September 12, 2012

Tubby McTubby was draggin his butt to the weight room searching for inspiration.  The grad photos peering at him from the class of '45 didn't do it, but the shining face of Tandy T. waiting for someone to open the weight room did!  Thanks for the inspiration Tandy!  You showed up, and so, did I.

Let's get ripped this year.

RJC Gun Club Tuesday Sept. 11, 2012

Tubby, so tubby.  Watched CNN Sept. 11 memorials and did Spartacus workout.  Memories of the fallen.  Inspiration to climb out of my poor lifestyle choices of summer.

Let's do this.

RJC Gun Club Tuesday June 5, 2012

Pure inspiration!

Monster Guns did not disappoint.  Started off in the clubhouse with the Trifecta (aka The Adamal, The Driedge, and myself).  High fives all around.  Major grunting.  Awesome.  The difference, however, was that we were soon joined by some young guns, the first being T-Mart (AKA The Weasel, or T-Weasel, or T-Wease, or The Prairie Mongoose, or Egg Snatcher (you should see him do dumbbell push-ups, he just scoops them up!), or Canada Goose, or Goose, or Gooser, or 'the skinniest strong man I know', or Tyler Martens).

Shortly thereafter we were joined by T-Rav (AKA Heebs) and Mike Arnason (AKA Arnason or Smoke Killer).  If there was an Olympic Games for people who smoked a minimum of 1 pack a day for at least a year and then did Olympic events, Arnason would represent Canada.  This guy continues to inspire with monster effort!  Don't leave us Arnason.

Even Kuny was shredding Monster Yoga (AKA 'K.O. Mo-Yo') in the Bio room.  I guess the club could work at being more gender neutral space.  Next year.

But today, even though things are getting busy, we showed up! Thanks for the inspiration!

RJC Gun Club Monday June 4, 2012

Wow, it's been too long since the last post.  Well, no time for excuses, just moving forward.  It's not that no one has been pumping the guns, but admittedly it has slowed, especially for the young 'uns.  I guess they are studying.

It was time for a kick-start, and here's how it happened.   The Driedge and I were cramming a few quick guns at noon (we need to do this a noon now because staff meeting starts immediately following tutorial on Mondays and if we don't gun it up before these meetings I get too aggressive) and we saw Mike A.  heading to the smoke pit, "Get in here Arnason"  I shouted out the window.  He shrugged a sheepish smile and kept walking.  "Haven't seen you in here forever!" Menaced the Dreiedge.  "Walk of Shame, you have to earn that smoke Arnason".  We thought we lost him, but withing a few minutes (man, those guys know how to smoke) his lately-not-so-familar-presence graced the doorway.

I felt the magic back.

Then Robby came in, representing the grade 10s, The Fitzgeralds, and the entire Irish-Quebecois nation (as small as it is, but it's feisty).  The inertia of Gun Club was back.  We only pumped for a few minutes, but as the music pounded, the sweat poured, and the bell rang, I felt like the June push was on.

We showed up, and it felt good.

Monster guns tomorrow.  As always, everyone's invited!

Gun Club Friday May 11, 2012

I owe this one to Joel.  I wasn't going to gun today, but he was, so I did too.  Thanks for keeping me on track Father-Brother!  I started with a run.  The wind was a beast, but it only made me stronger, and slower.  I'm trying to stay in shape for my 10K on May 27th.

Once I finished my run I met Joel on his way out of the Club.  I am looking forward to having a full Gun Club with the Driedge again soon, but I guess today wasn't the day.  Soon, my Father-Brother, we will shred again!  The Adamal was at a funeral.  Our condolences, friend.

I soldiered on with solo-guns.  Did the Spartacus routine.  If I was a gladiator, which I'm not, I think I would pick a trident.  You can defend thrust, stab, or throw it.  But, the winners rarely have a trident do they.  And what's with those nets that usually go with the tridents?  I guess I would take a sword.

it was Friday, and I snuck in a gun-run.  Here's to Joel for making me show up!
